For
calls, typically we want stocks that are in a positive trend, have
recently broken out of a base and have demand in control of the stock,
and have also pulled back to better entry points, typically right along
the trendline from which we believe the stock
will then makes its big move from. Trades can last a few days to a few
weeks. We like to take profits, and move onto other opportunities.
For put
options, we want to buy puts on stocks that are in a negative trend
(often a new negative trend), have broken down, yet have rallied a little
back up to the new resistance line, from which we think the
"sucker's rally" will have ended. We then want to buy puts to
take advantage of what we believe will be a fast move down in the stock.
Puts can also last from a few days to a few weeks.
When the
timing is right on calls and puts, typically you can get a very fast move
within only the first few days to weeks.
